Nina Carter Cohen MA, NCC, LPCC
At Journey Steps Counseling, I focus on helping clients cope with grief and loss, faith shifts, religious wounding, life transitions, and relationship issues. Our grief-avoidant culture can make it hard to find a safe place to process all the feelings that come with loss, be it the death of a loved one (including pets), divorce, loss of a job, loss of one’s faith, and other losses great and small. Even positive life transitions can bring complex emotions as we say goodbye to one season and move into another; often the sadness of what we’re leaving behind is not allowed to be acknowledged and we feel forced to “cheer up” for others while facing our grief alone.
I offer my clients a non-judgmental space where all feelings and questions are welcomed and encouraged to be expressed and explored. I have traveled my own terrains of life transitions, grief and loss, spiritual crisis, childhood trauma, and more; so I will come alongside you as a fellow sojourner on life’s journey. My style is warm and empathetic, with a bit of humor to lighten the load. Along with “talk therapy,” I use tools such as somatic exercises, parts work, bibliotherapy, and other creative approaches to tailor our sessions to your specific needs.
I offer in-person sessions at People House on Saturdays, and HIPAA-compliant online sessions Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (ask about possible Saturday availability). I also offer a free 15-minute video consultation for new clients. For more information, please visit my website: www.journeystepscounseling.com. I look forward to coming alongside you on your unique journey!
