Free Talk: Melting Sibling Tension and Building Strong Sibling Bonds @ People House Denver
Mar 25 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

For many of us when we started our families, we dreamed of our children laughing, playing, and enjoying one another wholeheartedly. Then, reality kicks in and we find our children fighting all too often. Refereeing fights between siblings are one of the weariest jobs in parenting! And the sibling difficulties build up over time because the tools we have—rewards and punishment of various kinds—are poorly suited to our children’s needs.

Whether there is a birth of a new sibling in the family or your well-established family seems to be in chaos, this talk is for you.

Why is it that children who were born to be connected to one another fight frequently and we parents, who long to love our children wholeheartedly, get discouraged? This talk will introduce you to the skills and understanding we need to truly mend children’s relationships with one another, and with us. We will discuss what is at the root of sibling tensions and what it takes to melt the tightly-held upsets inside our children, so they can relax with one another, and enjoy one another again. You’ll take home two specific tools to tame sibling rivalry at your house.

This talk is led by Certified Hand in Hand Parenting Instructor, Kristen Volk.  Donations appreciated.

When: Saturday March 25, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:30pm

Location: People House (Chapel Room), 3035 W. 25th Avenue, Denver, CO 80211

Mar 27 @ 8:00 am – 11:00 am

Have you found yourself acting on emotion and in the moment rather than stopping to breathe, take a time out and think the situation through? Finding Forgiveness @ The Barriers to Holding on or Letting Go
Mar 28 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Sometimes we have to make the decision if we want to or are going to forgive someone for a wrong we feel was done against us and sometimes we struggle. Do we forgive from a distance or do we forgive and push through together? Regardless, if we’ve been there, we know forgiving is no easy feat. Ask yourself what’s stopping you from forgiving yourself or others and what would it feel like if you began the process? If letting go is your goal but the steps to get there seem nearly impossible, you’re not alone.

Take this four hour class to help you identify what feelings are involved, ways to process those feelings, what blocks you from moving forward or letting go, what steps you can take to begin the choice to forgive and what goals you can make short-term and long-term. This workshop includes activities, role playing, sharing and snacks (probably not healthy one’s).

Anger in and of itself is simply a surface natural emotion, but what is happening internally will be a strong indicator of what happens externally.

Have you found yourself acting on emotion and in the moment rather than stopping to breathe, take a time out and think the situation through? Discover the difference between emotion over intelligence, reacting versus responding and several other factors at play and how these workshops could be the difference between rectifying your relationships and remaining free from the clutches of the criminal justice system or continuing down the same path leading to nowhere good.

Please visit www.focus-on-you for more details on what will be covered in the weeks to come. RSVP by 3/25/2017.

Thursday Night Process Group @ People House - Denver, Rose Room
Apr 20 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This fee-less Heart of Service program is designed for everyone wanting to experience group and individual process work in a safe, small-group setting. One-on-one and group facilitation by these experienced facilitators allows participants to explore the dynamics of process work without the commitment to regular attendance. Here is an opportunity to work on your own issues, heal old wounds, clarify those nagging questions, celebrate your accomplishments, discover new areas to explore, go deeper than you’ve gone before or just support others on their journey. We’ll be holding space for you, and you’re always welcome. Facilitators: Rev. Stephen “Clyde” Davis & Jeanne
